Our commitment
Digiton Logistics is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or who need reduced motion. Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of disability in the provision of services, and the Australian Human Rights Commission points web providers to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines as the practical standard. We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
What has been done
This site is animated by scroll, which is a real accessibility risk if it is done carelessly. These are the specific measures taken:
- Reduced motion is a first-class path, not a switch-off. If your system is set to reduce motion, the page stops being a scroll experience and becomes an ordinary document: everything is stationary, every block is fully visible, and no content is removed. Nothing is reachable only by animating.
- Contrast is measured on the rendered page, not estimated. Every block of text was screenshotted in place over the actual photograph behind it at every scroll position and graded. All body text clears 4.5:1 and all large text clears 3:1 at its worst frame.
- Real semantic markup. Real headings in order, real paragraphs, real links, real landmarks. No text is baked into an image.
- Keyboard operable. Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator that meets contrast against every background it crosses. There is a skip link to the main content.
- The services panel is keyboard operable. The six markers under it are real controls with a 24 by 24 pixel minimum target, they carry their selected state, and they move the panel with the keyboard as well as the pointer.
- Motion is not required to read anything. Every claim on the page is text. If animation fails or is switched off, the argument is intact.
- Decorative images are marked decorative and are skipped by screen readers rather than announced as noise.
- No autoplaying audio anywhere on the site, and no audio at all.
- Tap targets on touch devices are at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels.
- Text resizes. Type is set in relative units and the layout holds when text is enlarged to 200%.
- No third party embeds. Fonts and images are served from this domain, so no external component can introduce a barrier we cannot fix.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than imply the site is perfect.
- The corridor diagram is wider than a phone screen. A diagram half again as wide as it is tall cannot be both whole and legible at 390px, so it pans. It is exposed as a named, keyboard-operable scroll region, but reading it all takes a swipe.
- The page is long by design. A scroll-driven page takes more scrolling than a plain document. The reduced-motion version is substantially shorter, and the skip link goes straight to the content.
- Automated testing only, so far. Contrast, focus order, keyboard operation and the reduced-motion path have been verified mechanically and by inspection. This site has not yet been tested with users of assistive technology, which is the test that matters most. We intend to arrange it.
